My name is Katarzyna Bieniasz. I am a graduate of the National Academy of Arts in Lviv, Ukraine (conservation of works of art); the Faculty of Arts at the University of Rzeszów (graphic arts); as well as postgraduate studies in Conservation, Architecture, and Interior Design of Sacred Spaces in Kraków.

My academic education has shaped a classical way of thinking about art—marked by a deep respect for realism, an appreciation of traditional techniques and materials, and meticulous attention to detail. My research into the techniques of the old masters, as well as the aesthetics of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, are a direct source of inspiration in my painting practice.

For over ten years, I have devoted myself primarily to the art of icon painting. I create both copies and original compositions rooted in the Byzantine tradition and technique. The aesthetics of the icon continuously shape my artistic vision—its spiritual solemnity, the majestic simplicity of stylized forms, and timeless beauty are ideals that also guide my painting. Although in portraiture I use a more realistic approach, I strive to evoke a similar depth and presence, which lends portraits an almost sacred character.

A turning point in my artistic journey was a two-year stay in Morocco (2023–2025). I had the opportunity to draw daily from a wealth of inspiration, which resulted in a series of oil paintings. What brought my artistic vision to life there were the intensity of light and color, the beauty of local visual culture and landscapes, and above all—the expressive faces of people.

In Morocco, I collaborated with a theatre group led by a renowned Iraqi director. In October 2024, the premiere of our first performance, Funerary Birth, took place. As the artistic director, I was responsible for the design and execution of costumes, set design, and promotional materials.

Since 2015, I have been involved in art education. Teaching has always been an important part of my career. The joy of sharing knowledge with students gives me a unique opportunity to reflect on my own creative practice and to build a creative community of individuals with a similar approach to art.
